Mural dos Decoradores – Mangoleo

Mangoleo

Do you remember your first day when you fall in love in decorating? Can you tell us short story about that?

I’ve always loved trying to make my houses pretty since back when the classic deco stack was boxes, coconuts, bloodherbs and something on top. Once I started getting nicer items, I tried to display various rares and assumed that meant my house was nice looking enough, but it wasn’t until I started incorporating the cheaper creature products and pushable items around the world that I really saw what more I could do with my homes, and I’ve been pretty stuck on it ever since.

What is the most important thing in decorating for you?

I think the most important thing for me is to notice and acknowledge when I’m stuck on a theme that isn’t working and come back to it at a later time. There are times when I can’t make something work and I’ll keep working at it and overthinking it, and then the next thing I know the entire day is gone and I’ve done nothing but move pixels in a game, and that’s just not healthy! Usually taking a couple of days away from it helps and I end up getting it done in no time at all.

What are the most beautiful houses you have ever made or which one did you like the most?

I mostly love what I do in my Edron Guildhall, Sky Lane, Guild 2. I have owned Central Circle 1, 3, and 4 for a while and although I love them because of the nostalgia factor, I don't like the layout and I struggle with the size and stair/ladder positioning, so I never end up liking any houses as much as my Guildhall, especially with its massive roof.

What is your favorite decorating item?

Probably trophy stands. I use them in practically everything I do, and I’m really hoping that someday they come out with various colored stands as the deco community continues growing.

What is a “must-have” in a good decoration for you?

This is hard to answer because I don’t think I’ve ever looked at deco and thought “this needs something”. I’ve definitely thought “oh god this needs to be removed”, though. I’m not a fan of the super sparky items (my friends like to hide spark spheres in random places to annoy me), so I guess a must-have for me would be subtlety with animations.

What inspires you to create your decorations?

I usually just go for specific color themes unless there’s a holiday coming up or an event such as a friend’s milestone level, or decorating for an achievement screenshot. Sometimes I’ll Google “[whatever color I choose aesthetic]” or “[whatever color I choose] gradient” and just look around to get myself in the headspace of what colours I want to work with and how well they work with each other. I’m also very inspired by the many deco Instagrams that I follow, especially Myshana, Suzy Kill, and Divine Angel. The 3 of them have such specific styles that at this point I don’t even need to check the name on the post before knowing whose creation it is, and that in itself is very inspiring.

What is your favorite Store item?

Hirelings. As a mage I don’t have a lot of cap (surely I’m not the only one who’s considered buying a high level knight just for carrying more deco?!), so I’m constantly moving my hireling to where I’m currently decoing so that I can buy trophy stands and other items as needed. Also stone tiles and azure carpets are a game-changer when it comes to realistic housing with ponds and other out-door themes.

What usually annoys you while decorating?

My friends. There are 2 types: The type that always find the chair in the room and automatically take their arrow slot items off so that they don’t glow, and the type that stand in the middle of what I’m currently working on or run around turning all of the lights on knowing that I’m working with lighting effects. I love them, but not as much as they love bothering me!

When it comes to decorate, what is the most difficulty thing for you?

Not doing the same thing over and over again and forcing myself to step out of my comfort zone with tones and items I don’t usually like. Also time management. I don’t know how long it takes other people to create their deco, but I feel like I take forever. There’s a running joke of my friends saying “can’t wait to see it finished in a week”.
