Mural dos Decoradores – Elee Bae
Do you remember your first day when you fall in love in decorating? Can you tell us short story about that?
When I started playing Tibia, I always loved the idea of having my own house. I spent many years in Tibia as a free account player, therefore, I could not own a house. I would stash roses and flowers in my Thais depot, and I used them to decorate a friend’s house from time to time. It wasn’t until 2010 that I owned and decorated my own homes. I guess you could say that was the time I fell in love with decorating, because I had stopped decorating for others and began decorating for myself. I would spend hours standing outside of my house making runes, speaking to people as they walked by looking at my decorations. Although very simple at the time, I took pride in my decoration creations and I changed them constantly. I enjoy other’s reactions when I create a decoration style for them that they’ve requested. It is fulfilling to have my efforts, time, and creativity acknowledged when I bring someone else’s idea to life in Tibia for them. However, it feels much more amazing when I create personal decorations in my own homes for me to enjoy.
What is a "must-have" in a good decoration for you?
The absolute number one must-have in a decoration for me is light sources. I enjoy testing items with different colors of light sources, to see how it effects the original item and what effect it will give. I also enjoying seeing how light sources change the appearance of my Tibia character’s outfit colors. I love watching the color variation of my character change as I move from one space to the next.
What usually annoys you while decorating?
I think the most annoying thing for me when it comes to decorating is when certain items don’t fall together as I imagined in my head. It can be frustrating when I really wish to use two items together that don’t look how I want them to.
What inspires you to create your decorations?
My past and present life experiences, little memories of friends, achieving something in game or real life, and my growth as a person. I feel very inspired by things that happen in my life, good or bad, and I use my decorations to express that. I have days where I will log online and completely erase days of decorating, simply because something new has happened and I feel inspired to interpret that into a completely different creation. Decorating is in a sense, my way of finding and expressing positivity of a current situation, past experience, or memorable time in my life.
What are the most beautiful houses you have ever made or which one did you like the most?
I would choose my house in Ankrahmun, because it has 84 square meters and is one large room. I have found many ways of creating different areas within this wall-less home. I specifically chose this house, to have very little limitations on the sizes of my decorations. In this home I can create a single large decoration, I can separate the home into two, three, four, or even five sections. I enjoy creating either two or four completely different areas in my house.
What is your favorite decorating item?
What is your favorite Store item?
My favorite store items are the rose bushes. I have to admit that I love flowers and gardening. Since I can’t do that where I have lived (renting homes) in real life, Tibia allows me a small way to enjoy my love of flowers. My favorite store items are the rose bushes. When it comes to decorate, what is the most difficulty thing for you?
I think the most difficult thing for me when it comes to decorating is having flashy items to display. I’m not a rare item collector but I do appreciate the looks of rare items. Sometimes I will create something that a specific unobtainable item would go perfect with, so I end up finding a different item to use as a “placeholder”. The majority of the items I use to decorate are inexpensive or free, quest or event items, and many creature products I’ve accumulated over time.
