Hello, Tibian friends and home decorators.
Today i come to talk to you about “Illusionist Decorations”, which is when you create some type of illusion using devices or tricks.
Most of my decorations are like that, I’m pretty sure many of yours too. After all, we’re inside the world of Tibia and everything is possible here, isn’t it? We can use colors, lights or even particular patterns that can really trick the brain.
Illusionist decorations are always mysterious and surprising.
This is a technique of using pictorial methods to deceive the eyes. I’ll give you an easy example:
Do you know when you stack a lot of white pearls and that junction of all of them stacked, with some more low, others higher, that can give us the cloud effect if you look as a whole?
Let’s see an example of illusionist decoration in a step by step:
In this photo I stacked my Orichalcum Pearls scattered around the room so that they looked like clouds. This effect is super easy to do, it serves to perfectly explain to you what are illusionist decorations.
(Several pearls stacked randomly on the floor, but if you look at the whole, you’ll get the impression that they’re clouds).
In this photo I used some Bulbs of Garlic over the pearls to make them look like fluffy cutey clouds, so that I’d have a better impression that they’re clouds. However, they’re cutey!
This may be just a small detail, but imo, they make a very significant difference.
Now, to make these clouds look cooler, you can also work with the lights and colors in your advantage. Activating the option “Light Effects” in Tibia and waiting till it’s midnight in-game. This helps a lot to obtain the greatest intensity of colors, because the dark of the night will highlight them even more. You can also use blue light sources such as Frozen Starlight for example, under the pearls to make your clouds stand out in the dark. Thus causing a better impression.
As Tibia is full of amazing and beautiful items of various types and models, you can look for some to be part of the theme.
Look for some options for items that matches the theme you’re doing and that’s accessible to your bank account.
If I make a sky with clouds, I look for items on market such as stars, moon, drops of waters, rays.. That can give even more life to the theme I chose to do.
And in the end, it’s all these important details that make people look at your home and see a beautiful room in the clouds, not a bunch of pearls, garlic and beds stacked and scattered randomly on the floor.
Today, let’s talk a little about these tricks:
- What are the items that help in this effect;
- How important they are;
- The illusory effects that they cause;
- Incredible final effect that makes your home look artistic.
There are several ways to make these effects, there are infinite items that can help you create some optical illusion trick. I’ll start by showing some of the most common items that we have on market today that are essential to make these effects.
Folded Rift Carpet
Trophy Stand
The Trophy Stand is a well-known item. It was added to the game in 2007 and since then it has been helping a lot of decorators to put items at a higher level. It is sold for 50gp in any furniture NPC.
Jade Zaoan Queen
The Jade Zaoan Queen is a very interesting chess piece to use while decorating, when stacked, they become taller and can thus be used as a pedestal. They also emit a very intense green color. They can be obtained during the event “The Colours of Magic “, you can read about how to acquire them in this post.
Obsidian Zaoan Queen
The Obsidian Zaoan Queen is just like the Jade Zaoan Queen, you can use it to place items in a elevated position. The difference between them is that this particular one has a darker color, which imo, helps alot to camouflage when combinaed with the Rift Carpet. And this piece emits a purple light that can also be used to intensify blue-colored items.
Crystal Pedestal
The Crystal Pedestal is beautiful and delicate! By using it, you can choose one of the 4 colors it has. This item is great if you wanna add a mystical and/or romantic touch to the decor. When stacked, they help to give height and look like a pillar of precious stones.
Crystal Table
The Crystal Table is beautiful and shiny. It can also be stacked and you can use it as a ice column.
It is sold at the furniture NPC in Yalahar and costs just 150gp each.
In the video below I show some tricks that we can do with the Rift Carpet, Crystal Pedestal, Jade Zaoan Queen and Trophy Stand. You can see that we can create a certain high relief on the floor. The Rift Carpet is great to do camouflages and give us those impressions. The Crystal Pedestal can also transmit a “pillar” effect that can be done in 4 different colors.
These illusion tricks can be done in vertical, horizontal or diagonal positions.

The water effects using Azure Carpet – which simulates water, can be done in either direction. They are incredible because they give us the impression that we are stepping on water. Nowadays it is very common to see rivers and lakes in Tibians’ houses and there are countless effects that you can use to make your waters more interesting and realistic.
You can stack some Badbaras in the middle of your river, note that when we place them under and on top of the pedestal, even witth them in a vertical position, they give us the impression that they are tilted slightly to the diagonal, thus causing an illusion that the water of one side is on an upper floor and the waters on the other side on a lower floor.
Another cool trick you can do to make your cascade more realistic is to use the Luminous Piece of Cloth stacked vertically on the edge.
It is great for giving a ripple finish or if used on top of the Badbaras they can also help to give a direction for the water, which is still a detail that makes a lot of difference.
This trick is incredible and can almost deceive your mind, isn’t it? Notice that the way the items were placed makes them appear to have dimensions, because when you raise an item, automatically you will already have another layer on top, giving an impression of depth and you can still add things on top to give a flawless finish
The waterfall looks much more realistic!

If you use the diagonal tricks, you can get a beautiful cascade effect.
The Luminous Piece of Cloth is a very cheap item on the market and can help you improve the effect of water direction.
Using Badbara stacked diagonally will help you have the final effect on your waterfall.
Props to the many cool items in the Store, such as Bath Tub, you can even use your imagination and plunge into the waterfall inside a barrel. Hahahaha
This camouflage method using the Rift Carpet and Trophy Stand can also be used to perform tricks on the edges of rivers and lakes, to round and add depth.
Here are some examples:
These effects helps a lot to create the impression of a high relief. Placing the Folded Rift Carpet around the edges can help you shape and round the corners.
When we use the Rift Carpet to do these tricks it is important to remember that they look much better in the dark, as they help to camouflage the seams better.
As I mentioned above, you can search some thematic items that matches the evinroment that you’re creating. In this case, I looked for garden items, such as animals, flowers, plants and etc.
In the example below, I show the same blue lagoon made in a place with more space, where in addition to the camofulage technique, I’ve also used thematic items to give the illusion that we are in a picnic by the lagoon, warmed with a fire pit and listening to some music.
The importance of these items in the decoration:
The items mentioned so far are very important for those who like this type of decoration, because without them you’ll hardly be able to make these effects accurately.
The Trophy Stands and the chess pieces are used to give height, the Rift Carpet is used to camouflage the floor, they can help you to make countless important effects.
Making stacks with items that raise or lower items is essential for, in fact, creating an optical illusion.
Planets, stars, comet and even a kind of spaceship led by green and strange creatures..
YEA! Today it’s possible to do this at your home in Tibia.
Look in this video how using the Rift Carpets and Trophy Stands was essential to do these tricks.
A galaxy is the perfect example of this. With the dark background and with different heights, using 1 or 2 Trophy Stands, we can have the impression that the items are floating. That way you can also amend one item with another, forming something else like a comet with its tail, for example, or a planet with rings. And to make this illusion even better, you must use the dark in your advantage. Leave the Light Effects on and wait until its midnight on the Tibia clock. I believe that this will be the ideal time for you to take your photo, because as previously said, the lights will be more prominent, giving more life to the details.

Well, I can’t hide that i love the Rift Carpet! And these tricks that I showed here today are great to do using him and the Trophy Stand, but it’s also possible to create tricks with the floor or the “background” of other colors, you just need to look for a item that matches and camouflages with the floor.

Can you spot the difference between the two models above in this image?
Between the two roses and the Trophy Stands on the left side, I’ve used Strange Powder (looks almost the same as Flour), i haven’t used it on the right side.
Note that where I used the powder, the Trophy Stand was partially camouflaged. This is one trick to use when you want to lift small items from the floor such as roses, little stars, rings, etc.
If the floor is white, you should look for white items to help you make the camouflages, if the floor is green, look for green items, and so on.. Of course, some colours are difficult, but I believe that everything has a way, just think out of the box and use your creativity!
I can certainly say that dark colors are easy to work than the lighter ones, but it’s still possible to get very close to the same result. Maybe one day the WHITE Trophy Stand will appear on the market. This would be of great use.
The term illusionism is used to describe a painting that creates the illusion of a real object or scene, or even a sculpture in which the artist portrayed the figure so realistically that it looks alive.
The types of illusionist decorations are endless and each one has its own way, but this subject is too far from over. I hope to meet you here in the second part of this article to talk about more tricks and creative ideas.
